On the bench

Eight hundred and eighty-eight millimetres is a big radius for HO and the fifteen degree arc reflects it: twenty-four sections to close a circle, which almost nobody does. These are not circle pieces, they are easement pieces — the gentle bend that takes a main line around an obstacle, or the transition between a straight and a tighter curve so a long train does not snap into the turn.

How it behaves in a build

Used that way, a handful of R10 sections improve the running of an entire layout. Long passenger stock looks correct through them and the slack action through a long consist settles rather than jerking. Rails are rust free for stable current delivery and the sleepers match the rest of the range. Buy two or three to soften the approaches to your tightest curve and the difference is obvious.
