HO rolling stock: everything behind the locomotive (15 packs)

Boxcars, tankers, gondolas, flatcars and cabooses to run behind the locomotive.

What sits in this drawer

A locomotive on its own is a toy. A locomotive with eight cars behind it is a railway, and the cars are where the character comes from: a rust-red gondola, a silver oil tank, a work caboose with a crane folded over the deck.

All of this stock rolls on metal or copper wheels in free-turning bearings, because plastic wheels pick up grime and stall a train on a grade. Couplers come in two families, knuckle and hook, so check which one the rest of your fleet uses before you mix them in a consist.

Questions about this drawer

Knuckle or hook couplers — which do I need?

Whichever your existing cars use. Knuckle couplers look and behave like the prototype; hook couplers are simpler and very forgiving on tight curves.

Are the wheels metal?

Yes, metal or copper depending on the car. Both roll better and stay cleaner than moulded plastic wheels.

Can I run these behind another maker's locomotive?

Yes. They are standard HO gauge with standard coupler heights, so they mix into an existing fleet.

One drawer over

Our collection is sorted so the next thing you need is one drawer over. Fit is the whole point: a technic gear, a cross axle and a friction pin from an ASTEM building set are compatible with LEGO® technic parts down to the tenth of a millimetre. Builders tell us what the experience of the first build was like, and that customer feedback decides what changes in the next run.
