On the bench

This is the heavier of our two motor sets and the one to choose when the model is large. Two XL motors and two L motors give you four driven functions with real torque, and the servo adds a steering axis that returns to centre. Around them sit a large remote, a receiver, two twenty-five centimetre extension cables, a switch and a battery box, so the electrical side is complete out of the box.

How it behaves in a build

The set also ships the mechanical parts that motor kits usually leave out: twenty-four tooth clutch gears to protect the drivetrain when something jams, twenty-four tooth gears with an axle hole, short axles and universal joints for driving through an angle. Those clutch gears matter more than they sound. A stalled XL motor will happily shear a gear train, and a clutch gear is what turns that into a click instead of a repair.

Fit and compatibility

Power parts cut to technic standards, so they mount into existing frames and drive existing gears without adapters.
