On the bench

The jump from one circuit to several is where pneumatics gets interesting, and it needs variety rather than quantity. This set brings a seven length piston, a one by five actuator pump, a one by twelve cylinder air pump, a spring air pump, a two by eleven cylinder, a one by six cylinder and the switches and tubing to route between them. Different bores and strokes mean different speeds and forces from the same supply.

How it behaves in a build

An excavator with a boom, a dipper and a bucket needs three circuits that behave differently, and that is precisely what a mixed cylinder set gives you. We would call this the set for a second pneumatic project rather than a first, because routing several circuits through one pump teaches you about flow restriction in a way a single cylinder never will. The parts are moulded to a tight tolerance, which is the whole game with air.

Fit and compatibility

Sized to the standard pneumatic fittings used across the major building systems, so tubing and cylinders interchange freely.

More ASTEM technic parts: gears, axles and compatible building block sets

If this is part of a bigger build, the collection has the pieces around it. We measure before we pack: technic gear teeth, axle cross and pin fit, so the building set you open is compatible with the LEGO® parts on your table. Builders tell us what the experience of the first build was like, and that customer feedback decides what changes in the next run.
