Containers pushed the boxcar aside and changed what a freight train looks like, and a modern layout without intermodal traffic is modelling a period it may not mean to. At fifty-one feet this is the longest car on our shelf, carrying two containers that lift off for an empty running configuration or a different stack.

How it behaves in a build

The extra length wants a little more radius than the forty foot cars, so check your tightest curve before committing to a rake of them. Metal components give weight and steady rolling, exterior detail and painted lettering match the range, and couplers are fitted. Run three or four together behind a road diesel and the train immediately reads as contemporary rather than historical.
